MP3 players have been around for over a decade, but I only recently entered this world. I don’t know why I waited so long as I’m having great fun with it now. A good distraction, cool gadget (is it OK to say still say cool or is that totally uncool?), and a convenience on a number of levels, it seems the range of MP3 players offer something for everyone. While not the player I have, a nifty little one like nothing I’ve seen before was unveiled in Las Vegas at the International CES earlier this month. It was interesting to read at http://www.anythingbutipod.com (a site I really enjoy visiting) that Samsung’s reason for creating an MP3 player with a transparent screen could be “for the purpose of test driving these technologies on consumer devices.” It makes me wonder if we will one day see a giant transparent TV.

While I really enjoyed seeing this player via that video, and am impressed there is technology to create such a thing, it seems to me it’s more of a novelty at this point anyway. I would find it pretty distracting if I were actually trying to watch the screen. On the other hand I can’t get over that “cool” factor. I won’t even begin to guess what they’ll think of next.
