Mini Touchscreen Monitor

I keep hoping to see consumer applications available of that amazing gizmo that turns any surface into a touchscreen. But it seems we are still waiting for companies to manufacture products incorporating the Light Touch technology that has been developed by Light Blue Optics. Patience may be a virtue, but I’m not that virtuous. I’m just so curious to see this thing in action.

In the meantime though, there are some interesting gadgets that at least involve a touchscreen (albeit an actual, not projected one) and do also have that cute factor. Apparently I’m not alone, as illustrated by the computer wiz below.

Mimo Monitors has come out with their latest incarnation of USB touchscreen monitors. The iMo Pivot Touch – 7 Inch USB Touchscreen Monitor connects to your computer (laptop or desktop) via USB with no power cord is needed. You get a secondary monitor with no need for an additional video card. Small and portable, it folds flat for travel. This newest version is even more convenient since the monitor pivots on its base by way of a ball-and-socket joint, and is even completely detachable from the base if desired. And to top it off – it’s one of the lowest, if not the lowest priced touchscreen monitor available. I’m not sure if this video from Mimo is really chic or just plain cheesy, but at least you do get to see the thing from different angles.

but the best price I’ve found for this new version is at Amazon.com – iMo Pivot Touch – 7 Inch USB Touchscreen Monitor. It still ships from Mimo Monitors, but personally I like buying from a company I’ve dealt with before; and one that is so convenient and easy to order from – an added bonus with Amazon. Just a personal preference.

That said, Amazon.com does not offer another little monitor that is also pretty cute and practical. While it doesn’t have a touchscreen, it is about half the price. The Mimo Lilliput Mini USB Monitor, also runs off your laptop or desktop via USB, no power cord needed, no extra video card needed as it’s built-in, and it can rotate to be viewed either in portrait or landscape views. I wonder what Gulliver would think…
