The logic – or should I say skewed thought process in my opinion – is frightening. Because we’ve overfished and depleted the supply, thrown off the balance of nature, the next thing we do is kill the next species in line. It’s not the first time comparable acts have been undertaken, but it is further

Good news on the endangered turtle front in the Gulf of Mexico. Especially for the Kemp’s Ridley turtle that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has said is the rarest and most threatened. Reuters reported Saturday that, “Environmental groups, BP (BP.N) (BP.L) and the U.S. Coast Guard reached tentative agreement on Friday on measures

This week, two appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court involving tobacco companies have been denied to be heard. One decision favoured Big Tobacco, the other did not. But both had to do with a 2006 U.S. District Court ruling by Judge Gladys Kessler. In her landmark 1,683 page ruling found nine major tobacco manufacturers guilty

It just doesn’t seem to stop. Everyday there’s another horror, revelation, or uncovering of yet another lie, or misstatement of the truth if you want to be kind about it. I’m not so sure I do. Too many of BP’s actions, and inactions in other cases, have left me totally disgusted. The list just grows

A recent comment to my post “Tobacco Companies Still Testing on Dogs” asked for more evidence that animal testing was still going on, how he hoped it would have stopped by now. I thought this was a good opportunity to share what I’ve found beyond what I’ve already posted. The impetus for that original post

I went searching for any kind of update on Tilikum, wondering if any changes were in the offing regarding whales in captivity. I found little new about Tilikum himself, but did learn that, “Two killer whales at SeaWorld Orlando are pregnant, with one due in a matter of weeks. SeaWorld says it expects Taima, a

I mentioned last week that I was going to be writing about some really horrific animal testing that was begin done by tobacco companies. Well, here it is. Horrible as it is to think about, I couldn’t let anymore time pass before writing about, and sharing this information. Vivisection can be a contentious issue for

Interesting how sometimes things backfire, garnering the opposite reaction to what was intended. It appears that may have happened to the “Canadian Seal Marketing Group works with the Fur Council of Canada (FCC), the non-profit federation for fur trade members that includes processors, designers, auction houses and retail furriers.” Their recent seal promotion campaign,

This past Wednesday, the Orlando County Sheriff’s Office released the investigative report into the tragic death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau on February 24th 2010. The medical examiner determined she died of drowning and blunt-force trauma, but for those interested in the gory details, and painful timeline of events, this report gives a play by
